This year Kingston will be having a Youth Council for every level of government (municipal, provincial, and federal). These councils are a group of young people who want to help youth in Kingston improve their quality of life by raising their voices and working directly with the government representative to advise on decision-making.
There are three youth councils and each focuses on specific parts of the community. Here is a list of councils and some examples of what each level is responsible for and click the title to learn more about the government representative you'd be working with!
Municipal Youth Council: Transit, school boards, police, roads, parks, libraries.
Provincial (MPP) Youth Council: Education, healthcare, labour.
Federal (MP) Youth Council: Trade, banking, immigration, justice system, indigenous rights.
Applications are open until November 13th, 2018
Must be between the ages of 12-24
The councils meet about 2 times a month and spend additional time working on specific projects!
