Job Title: Y2K Youth Facilitator
Start Date: July 2nd, 2018
Hours: Full time in the summer (37-40 hours)
Part time starting inSeptember (7-10 hours)
Must be between the ages of 12-24
Position Summary: Youth 2 Kingston (Y2K) is a network of youth and adult allies. Y2K strives to make Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox & Addington a more youth friendly and inclusive region, engaging community partners, adults and youth to help work towards that goal. Youth Facilitators create projects that they are passionate about, based on community research, personal experiences and the voice of young people from the Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington communities, as we continue our third year of expanding Y2K’s efforts beyond the borders of Kingston.
Summary of Responsibilities: Y2K is a network that works with several organizations and youth initiatives in the community. There are various areas in which this collective work is done.
Young people and Adults working together to take action on ideas, identified issues and removing barriers for young people. Community Action focuses on turning young people’s ideas into action projects for other young people.
Participatory Action and Research (PAR)- Youth Facilitators with PAR engage the community in identifying action areas in our communities, PAR engages through surveys, focus groups and other research tools. The data gathered through these methods informs the design and creation of community action projects.
Facilitating community outreach, creating partnerships and maintaining current partnerships to grow the impact of Y2K network. Facilitators help to guide programming to ensure that all voices and young people are included in KFLA. Outreach and inclusion facilitators also focus on ensuring that those furthest away from opportunity are also involved.
Facilitators help to expand the reach of Y2K through the youth portal, community communications channels and social media platforms, engaging those who are not physically at events.
