The Teen Advisory Group is an opportunity for youth to help conceive, develop, and deliver library programming for their peers. The volunteer commitment involves a 2-hour meeting each month (Sept-May) + attendance at a 2-hour event in the fall and the winter. That said, we typically turn to TAG members when we have an additional need for volunteers to support various library programs. As such, particularly keen TAG members can rack up as much as 40 volunteer hours over the year. There are currently Teen Advisory Groups operating out of our Calvin Park, Isabel Turner, and Pittsburgh branch. There is also currently a TAG operating out of the KCHC in Rideau Heights. This TAG will relocate to the new library in Rideau Heights once it’s open in the new year.
In the fall, TAG organized events currently include “Pirate Games Night” at Calvin Park on Dec. 4 (6-8 pm), “Reindeer Games” at Isabel Turner on December 21 (6-7 pm), and “Nightmare Before Christmas” at the Rideau Heights KCHC on December 21 (6-8 pm).

The Teen Review Board is an opportunity for youth with interests in reading, writing, and critical thought. In nutshell, youth submit reviews of any item we have in our collection, and these reviews are posted on the teen page of our website. For every review a participant submits, we will award 1 volunteer hour. This is an ideal volunteer opportunity for those who simply enjoy reading, listening to music, playing videogames, or watching movies.
